Hi Deb I found your refernce to Unity House by searching on the web. I worked at Unity House starting in the summer of 1944, my last year of high school. I missed 1945 and 46 serving in the US Navy In 1947 I returned and worked every summer until my last in 1952. The first summer I was a busboy in the kids dining room. One summer I was a waiter in the Helps dining room. The other summers I was a busboy in the main dining room. I attended the University of Delaware as an undergraduate and then went to the U. of Illinois in Urbana where I completed my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. I have lived in Pittsburgh since 1957 rearing our 3 kids here. My summers at Unity House were the best of my life. Unfortunately I have been back only twice, once briefly in 1959 with my wife for a night and once in 1991 with my oldest daughter while I was moving her from New Yrk back to Pittsburgh and after it had closed. You represent it accurately as Paradise Lost. What a great place to work! Did you live in the Bowling Alley when you worked there? Your pictures made me nostalgic.

I work at Unity House from 1972 thru 1976. I start as a busboy and ended as the bartender. What a great time of my life, if I could onlygo back. Met a lot of great people their.
